The provisions of §§ 93.030 et seq., 93.050 et seq., 93.070 et seq., 93.090 et seq., and 93.105 et seq. shall not be applicable to any excavation work under the direction of authorized city authorities, by employees of the city, or by any contractor of the city performing work for and on behalf of the city necessitating openings or excavations in streets.
