§ 53.015 JURISDICTION OF CITY OVER TERRITORY OCCUPIED BY WATER FACILITIES, WATER SOURCES, AND THE LIKE.
   (A)   In conformity with the provisions of the laws of the state, the city, having constructed a water works system, does hereby take jurisdiction of the care and supervision of the same.
   (B)   For the purpose of maintaining and protecting the same from injury and the water from pollution, this jurisdiction is declared to extend over the territory occupied by the works, over all reservoirs, streams, trenches, pipes, and drains used in and necessary for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the same, and over the stream or source from which the water is taken and for 5 miles above the point from which it is taken.
