§ 52.99 PENALTY.
   (A)   (1)   Whenever in this chapter an act is prohibited or is made or declared to be unlawful or an offense or a misdemeanor, or whenever in this chapter the doing of any act is required or the failure to do any act is declared to be unlawful, and no specific penalty is provided therefor, the violation of any provision or the failure to perform any act shall be punishable by a fine of not exceeding $500 or by imprisonment not to exceed 90 days, or by both the fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court.
      (2)   Each day any violation or failure to perform the act shall continue shall constitute a separate offense and a separate violation of an ordinance of this city, unless otherwise specifically provided.

   (B)   Any person violating the provisions of §§ 52.40 et seq. by installing an electric meter on the inside of a building or refusing to remove therefrom the electric meter within the time required, after having received written notice to remove the same, shall be punished by a fine or by imprisonment or by both, in the discretion of the court trying the cause, as provided in division (A) above. For the purpose of more effectively carrying out and enforcing the provisions of §§ 52.40 et seq., every person installing the meters and meter accessories inside of a building as contractor or electrician, or directing or supervising the installation of the same inside of a building, and the owner or lessee of the building on which the same is installed, who knowingly permits a meter to be installed inside of his or her building or a building under his or her control, shall be deemed guilty of violating §§ 52.40 et seq. and subject to punishment as herein provided.
