§ 33.01 PURPOSE.
   (A)   The City Commission declares that it is the purpose of this chapter and policy of the City Commission that:
      (1)   Equal employment opportunity discrimination against any person in recruitment, examination, appointment, training, promotion, retention, discipline, or any other aspect of personnel administration because of sex, age, race, color, religion, reprisal, handicap, ancestry, national origin, medical condition, except where the requirements constitute a bona fide occupational qualification necessary to proper and efficient performance of the position; and
      (2)   Compensation shall be provided employees covered by this chapter with the due consideration of both the employees and the taxpayers and in observance of the principle of equal pay for equal work and appropriate differences in pay for differences in work.
   (B)   All pronouns used in this chapter shall include the masculine, feminine, and neuter gender, shall include the singular and plural, and the context of this chapter shall be read accordingly.
