§ 31.02 TEMPORARY MAYOR.
   (A)   If a majority of the Village Board members present at the regular meeting or at a meeting specially called by any member of the Village Board pursuant to statute, agree at such meeting that an emergency exists within the municipality during a vacancy in the office of Mayor or the temporary absence of the Mayor from the municipality, then the Village Board revokes the appointment of the member of the Village Board to exercise the duties of the Mayor.
   (B)   During such temporary appointment, the appointed member of the Village Board shall be designated “Temporary Mayor”. The “Temporary Mayor” shall not receive any additional compensation because of such appointment.

Editor’s note:
   A temporary chairperson shall only have the power of a presiding officer and a right to vote in his or her capacity as Trustee on any ordinance, resolution or motion.
