Any person, firm or corporation laying or repairing any pavement on a street, sidewalk or other public place, or making or maintaining an excavation in any place, shall maintain suitable barricades to prevent injury to any person or vehicle by reason of the work or excavation and the barricades shall be adequately protected by lights at night time.
