Notice of the time and place of every examination shall be given by the Board by a publication at least two weeks preceding the examination, in one or more newspapers published in the municipality, or if no newspaper is published therein, then in one or more newspapers with a general circulation within the municipality, except on promotional examinations. Notice may be given by posting on Department bulletin boards at least two weeks preceding examination.
