9-4-3: CONTRACTOR'S REGISTRATION:
   A.   Required; Term; Fee: All persons desiring to engage in the business of installing heating, air conditioning and refrigeration in or on any building within the corporate limits of the city must first secure a contractor's certificate of registration from the city clerk. The city clerk shall issue applications to persons desiring mechanical contractor's certificate. Upon presentation of a valid and current state mechanical contractor's license to the city clerk, accompanied by a required fee as set by the city council, and upon the city clerk being satisfied that the ordinances relating thereto are in all respects complied with, the city clerk shall issue the certificate of registration. The registration shall be for one year or part thereof, expiring June 30 following. The annual fee for the second year in which a registration is in effect shall be as set by the city.    B.   Transferability; Responsibility: The rights and obligations of a registered mechanical contractor shall not be transferred, assigned or delegated. No mechanical subcontract shall be let to any person not also possessing a mechanical contractor's registration. The contractor shall be responsible for all work installed under his certificate. Such mechanical contractor shall at all reasonable or necessary times supervise workers performing mechanical work. Each worker doing mechanical work shall be familiar with the mechanical code adopted by the city. (1988 Code § 5-702; amd. 2000 Code)
