7-4-2: PARK BOARD 1 :
   A.   Created: The mayor, by and with the consent of the city council, shall appoint seven (7) persons, who shall constitute the park board of the city. The members appointed by the mayor shall be appointed for terms of two (2) for one year, two (2) for two (2) years and three (3) for three (3) years from July 1, 1979. All subsequent appointments shall be for a term of three (3) years, except appointments to fill vacancies, which appointments shall be made by the mayor, and which appointees shall serve the unexpired term of the member who they have been appointed to replace.
   B.   Duties: The park board shall serve as an advisory board for the purpose of assisting the mayor and council in the operations of the parks and all public grounds of the city. The control of operations of the parks and all public grounds of the city shall remain in the mayor and city council. The park board shall have the duty and may consider and investigate any subject matter pertaining to the establishment, development, management, operation, maintenance, beautifying, landscaping and improving the parks and all public grounds of the city, and all bills therefor shall first be approved by the park board and submitted to the city council for allowance, as other claims are allowed. The park board may submit employment recommendations and job description recommendations for park related positions to the city council for approval. All employees in park related positions shall be hired by the city of Pryor Creek and shall be under the supervision of the mayor and city council and subject to the disciplinary action by the same.
   C.   Gifts; Contracts: The park board shall have the power and duty to recommend to the mayor and city council the receipt gifts of money or other property which may be used or held in trust for the purpose given, and may with the approval of the mayor and city council, enter into contracts for agreements with the board of county commissioners of the county and the state, through any commission created for the purpose in connection with the federal government.
   D.   Organization; Meetings: At the first meeting of the park board, it shall organize by electing one of its members chairman, one of its members vice chairman and one of its members ex officio secretary-treasurer.
   E.   Compensation: The members of the park board shall serve without compensation. (Ord. 2015-1, 7-21-2015)
