A. When Available: In all prosecutions for violations of ordinances punishable by fine of more than five hundred dollars ($500.00), excluding costs, or by imprisonment not exceeding thirty (30) days or by both fine and imprisonment, trial is by jury unless waived by the defendant. If trial by jury is waived, trial shall be to the court. (Ord. 2007-5, 9-18-2007)
B. Composition Of Jury: A jury in the municipal court shall consist of six (6) jurors, men or women, citizens eighteen (18) years of age or older of the city, possessing the qualifications of jurors in the district court in the state. (1988 Code § 6-132)
C. Compensation: Jurors shall receive for their services the sum of fifteen dollars ($15.00) per day. The claims for such compensation must be verified as other claims against the city are verified. Jurors shall be paid out of the city court fund. (See appendix A of this code.) (1988 Code § 6-133; amd. 2000 Code)
