4-2-6: STORAGE REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
   A.   Flammable Liquids, Liquefied Petroleum Gases: The limits referred to in the fire code, in which storage of flammable liquids in outside aboveground tanks is prohibited and in which new bulk plants for flammable liquids are prohibited, shall be as provided in the zoning title. The limits referred to in which bulk storage of liquefied petroleum gas is prohibited shall be the city limits. It is unlawful for any person to establish, erect, construct or enlarge a plant or place of business where liquefied petroleum gas or gases are to be manufactured, distributed or handled within the city.    B.   Gasoline, Volatile Substances:
      1.   It is unlawful for any person to store gasoline or any other volatile substance for retail sale purposes above the ground, or below the ground at any one retail service station in any quantity in excess of eighteen thousand (18,000) gallons. (1988 Code § 13-105)
      2.   It is unlawful for any person to install, erect or construct a tank or tanks for the storage of gasoline or other volatile substances for retail sale without meeting the requirements of the fire code and the tank or tanks first being inspected by the chief or assistant chief, or fire marshal, of the fire department and obtaining a permit to install, erect or construct such tank or tanks from the building official. No tank or tanks shall be installed aboveground for the retail sale of gasoline or other volatile substances. (1988 Code § 13-105; amd. 2000 Code)
      3.   No gasoline or other volatile substance shall be delivered by any wholesale company, agent, jobber, person, firm or corporation to any service station engaged in the retail sale of such product within the city in a truck, tank wagon or transport with a total capacity of more than eight thousand five hundred (8,500) gallons. However, if prior to the effective date of ordinance 57-1, a service station had been especially equipped for the delivery and storage of such products in larger quantities, the minimum capacity of such trucks, tank wagons or transports and storage facilities shall not be increased.
