9-2-10: FIREARMS:
   A.   Carrying Concealed Weapons Prohibited: It shall be unlawful for any person within the city to carry on or about his person, or within ready access in his automobile or vehicle, any concealed weapon, including, but not limited to, a revolver, pistol, slingshot, blackjack, cross knuckles or knuckler of lead, brass or other metal, or bowie knife, razor, dagger or sawed off gun, machine gun, submachine gun, or any device for releasing or discharging tear gas or any other obnoxious or poison gas or for laying a smoke screen, or any other dangerous or deadly weapon.
   B.   Discharge Prohibited: No person shall fire or discharge any cannon, gun, revolver, pistol, fowling piece or other firearm, or any air gun, within the city, except in a rifle or revolver range under proper supervision.
   C.   Sale Of Firearms To Minors: No person shall sell, loan or furnish to any minor any gun, pistol or other firearm, or any air gun or ammunition for any firearm or air gun within the city.
   D.   Unlawful Possession By Minors: It is declared unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to be in possession of any of the following items:
      1.   Bowie, switchblade, ballistic knives, throwing stars, or other edged weapons as defined by 720 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/24-1(1);
      2.   Metallic knuckles or numchucks;
      3.   Slingshots;
      4.   Arrows designed for firing from a bow or crossbow device, except when such person is engaged in lawful hunting, supervised target shooting, or the otherwise legal transportation of such device;
      5.   Stun gun or laser;
      6.   Any device or attachment of any kind designed, used or intended for use in silencing the report of a firearm;
      7.   Machine gun as defined by 720 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/24-1;
      8.   Any bomb, bombshell, grenade, bottle or other container containing any explosive substance of over one-quarter (1/4) ounce for like purposes, such as, but not limited to, black powder bombs, molotov cocktails, pipe-bombs or artillery projectiles;
      9.   Firearms, or the ammunition therefor, as defined by 430 Illinois Compiled Statutes 63/1.1, except when such person is engaged in lawful hunting, supervised target shooting, or the otherwise legal transportation of such device;
      10.   Fireworks, as defined by 425 Illinois Compiled Statutes 30/2.
   E.   Unsupervised Possession Prohibited: It is unlawful for any parent or legal guardian to permit any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to be in, or come into, the unsupervised possession of any items listed in subsection D of this Section.
   F.   Exemptions: The prohibitions relating to the discharge of weapons or the carrying of the same concealed shall not apply to the officers or members of the police force of the City, nor to any officer of any court whose duty may be to serve warrants or to make arrests, not to persons authorized under the statutes of the State or the United States to carry concealed weapons, nor to special police officers appointed as watchmen.
   G.   Penalty: Any person violating the provisions of this Section shall be fined not less than twenty five dollars ($25.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense, and shall be subject to such additional civil and/or criminal remedies as are provided under law.
