A. Requirements: It is the duty of all persons owning or keeping a dog over four (4) months of age, or a cat over four (4) months of age, to have such animals inoculated against rabies. The rabies inoculation shall be given in an amount sufficient to provide immunities from rabies for one year and shall be administered by a licensed veterinarian. A certificate from a licensed veterinarian shall be furnished to the city clerk. If the rabies inoculation is effective for a period in excess of one year, the certificate shall so state. B. Violations; Penalty: Any person violating any provision of this section shall be fined not less than seventy five dollars ($75.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense. Any person cited under the provisions of this section not paying the fine within fifteen (15) days shall face an additional penalty of not less than seventy five dollars ($75.00) and not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
