6-9-4: WATER SUPPLY:
Water distribution facilities, including piping, fittings, hydrants, valves, valve basins, water services and all other needful appurtenances adequate for fire and domestic needs, shall be installed to serve all properties within the subdivision.
   A.   Water Mains: Water mains shall be of a minimum eight inches (8") internal diameter. The material of the pipe shall be approved by the city engineer and shall conform to all applicable ANSI, ASTM, ISPE, and AWWA standards. The minimum depth of water main from the top of pipe to finished grade shall be five and one-half feet (51/2').
   B.   Valves And Vaults: Valves shall be nonrising stem gate valves with operating nut, designed to take full pressure on either face, furnished in full compliance with AWWA C509 or AWWA C515. All valves shall open by turning counterclockwise. Valves shall operate at a working pressure of one hundred fifty (150) pounds per square inch and a test pressure of three hundred (300) pounds per square inch. Valves eight inches (8") and smaller shall be housed in valve vaults with an internal diameter of forty eight inches (48"); valves over eight inches (8") shall be housed in vaults with an internal diameter of sixty inches (60"). Valve vault, sidewall and base construction shall conform to ASTM C478 with gasketed joints. All buried valves must be mechanical joint ends and ANSI class 125 flange ends or mechanical joint ends for valves installed in vaults. Restrained type joints must be provided for all mechanical joint end valves. Valve boxes must be provided on all buried valves with valve box stabilizers. Valves shall be American flow control (waterous) series 2500 resilient wedge or other comparable valve as approved by the city engineer.
   C.   Hydrants:
      1.   Hydrants shall be of the compression or gate type conforming to AWWA C502 and shall be waterous pacer model WB67-250 unless otherwise approved by the city engineer. Hydrants shall be designed for a three hundred (300) pound test pressure and a one hundred fifty (150) pound working pressure.
      2.   Hydrants shall be furnished with a five and one-fourth inch (51/4") main valve assembly, with two and one-half inch (21/2") hose nozzles and one 41/2-inch pumper nozzle. Threads on nozzles and caps, and operating nuts, shall be national standard. Hydrants shall open by turning to the left and shall be so marked.
      3.   Hydrants shall have a six inch (6") pipe connection and shall be equipped with six inch (6") auxiliary resilient seat type gate valves with restrained type joints. Valves shall be in valve boxes with stabilizers on all auxiliary valves with cover marked "water". Auxiliary valve shall be attached to hydrant with one hundred twenty five (125) pound standard flanges.
   D.   Water Services: All water services shall be constructed of type K copper pipe, having a minimum internal diameter of one inch (1"). Such services shall be equipped with corporation cock, curb stops and other necessary fittings in accordance with current city standards. (Ord. 0-07-36, 12-3-2007, eff. 12-14-2007)
