A. Adoption: A certain document, entitled the International Building Code, 2012 edition, and all appendices thereto, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted as the Building Code of the City of Prospect Heights. Three (3) copies of the document shall be kept on file with the City Clerk.
B. Application: The International Building Code, 2012 edition, applies to all buildings except single-family residences, two- family dwellings (i.e., duplexes) and townhomes. Those structures are covered in the International Residential Code, 2012 edition.
C. ANSI A117.1:
1. Adoption: The International Code Council/ANSI A117.1-2009 American National Standard Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities is hereby adopted by the City of Prospect Heights.
2. Conflicts: Whenever two (2) or more codes are in conflict, the more stringent requirement shall govern. With respect to accessibility, the Illinois Accessibility Code shall take precedence and shall supersede the ICC/ANSI A117.1-2009 American National Standard.
D. 2010 ADA Standards For Accessible Design: 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design is hereby adopted by the City of Prospect Heights.
1. Conflicts: Whenever two (2) or more codes are in conflict, the more stringent requirement shall govern. With respect to accessibility, the Illinois Accessibility Code shall take precedence and shall supersede the 2010 ADA Standards. (Ord. 0-19-06, 2-25-2019)
