(A) The City Council may, by resolution, establish weight limitations for any paved street within the city. Any vehicle with a gross weight in excess of a posted weight limitation shall not be operated on such street.
(B) In the case that a vehicle is delivering goods and cannot make such delivery without crossing or traveling on a street which would cause a violation of this section, the operator shall obtain from the Police Chief a designation of the route such vehicle shall take to make such delivery. The Police Chief shall have the authority to refuse to allow such vehicle to make said delivery if the harm, no matter what the route, would be extreme.
