§ 94.03 EXCEPTIONS.
   Open fires may be maintained within the city under the following circumstances:
   (A)   City officials. Fires started and attended by the personnel of the Polo Fire Protection District or city officials acting in their official capacities.
   (B)   Recreational purposes. Recreational campfires of less than four feet in diameter burning untreated wood only, within a contained area, from the hours of 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays (all times being local).
   (C)   Request permit. Festive and/or ceremonial burnings in excess of four feet in diameter with a permit issued by the city. The Mayor or his or her designee shall review the request and may approve a permit request with certain conditions or deny the request on the grounds of public safety when appropriate. Permitted burning hours shall be the same as in division (B) above.
   (D)   Cooking. Open fires used for cooking food at public or private gatherings, provided that such fires are exclusively for said purposes between the hours of 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
   (E)   Landscape debris. Leaves, diseased trees and tree debris only may be burned on the premises on which they were generated, provided the burning takes place between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with the wind velocity being less that ten miles per hour. Burning leaves and debris must be completely extinguished by 6:00 p.m., or if not attended as per § 94.05 of this chapter.
