APPENDIX II
DESIGN CRITERIA FOR THE VILLAGE OF POLAND, OHIO
1.   It is the intention of the Design Review Board to place the greatest possible emphasis on the further development of a village as distinct from a suburb.  A village gives equal opportunity to pedestrian and motorist alike.  The heart of every village is it's commercial and business area, with buildings close to the street easily rubbing elbows with one other, and where adults and children walk comfortably from one building to the other.  Poland has the potential to offer a Village center unique in the Youngstown area.  It is the firm conviction of the Design Review Board that Poland can reverse her recent commercial suburban sprawl by insisting on a well defined Village streetscape where building character, building placement and building access are the main elements of design.
