The purpose of this chapter is to review and regulate all existing and proposed signs of any type in order to create a more attractive business climate, enhance and protect the physical appearance of the community and preserve the beauty of designated areas. Furthermore, this chapter is intended to promote public welfare and to reduce distractions and/or obstructions which may contribute to safety hazards.
As used in this chapter, “sign” means a limited display identifying a business by name and/or the nature of the business. It may be permanently fixed to the ground or attached to a building or, in certain cases, it may be a temporary display that conforms to the spirit and letter of this chapter.
