(a) Statement of Purpose. This district is intended to define areas suitable for the location and space needs of a broad variety of industrial activities. The permitted industrial uses shall be primarily of a manufacturing, assembly and fabrication nature. These uses should be protected from the intrusion of other land uses which do not perform a function appropriate to the district nor provide essential services. Important is the accessibility to regional transportation facilities and public utilities. The topography of the area should be relatively level with no flood hazard; however, hillside areas may also be used where appropriate. These industrial areas may be in proximity to other land use areas, but wherever possible appropriate physical features, such as hillsides or ridges, should be used as boundaries.
It is not intended that any new residential development be permitted in the "M-2" district.

Airport and landing strips
