(a) Statement of Purpose. This district is provided in recognition of the need to permit retail business and service uses to serve the daily needs of the nearby residential areas. Other uses which serve larger areas and/or "comparison" shopping needs are not encouraged and therefore the size of the various uses is limited. The further intent is to encourage the concentration of local business at certain strategic locations and to avoid extension of marginal strip business along the length of streets and roads near residential areas.
