§ 92.11 REGISTRATION, IMPOUNDMENT AND VIOLATION NOTICES.
   (A)   The Animal Control Officers are hereby empowered during the performance of his or her duties to capture unrestrained dogs, cats and nuisance animals, and they shall be taken by the Animal Control Officer and impounded at the Animal Control Facility and there confined in a humane manner.
   (B)   Any animal that poses a threat to public health and safety, any wild animal kept illegally, or any animal that has been cruelly treated or abused shall be impounded.
   (C)   For purposes of discharging the duties imposed by the provisions of this chapter or other applicable laws, and to enforce the same, duly authorized representatives (or employees) may enter upon private property to the full extent permitted by law, which shall include but not limited to entry upon private unfenced property when in pursuit of any animal which he or she has reason to believe is subject to impoundment pursuant to the provision of this chapter or other applicable laws.
   (D)   Wild cats, dogs or other animals may be kept 0 to 72 hours at the discretion of the Animal Control Supervisor.
   (E)   Sick or injured animal wearing no apparent identification through which ownership can not be determined, may be kept 0 to 72 hours at the discretion of the Animal Control Supervisor.
   (F)   If, by the rabies licensed tag or other means, the owner of an impounded animal can be identified, the Animal Control Officer shall use his or her best efforts to immediately upon impoundment notify the owner by direct contact, telephone, mail or other reasonable means.
   (G)   An owner reclaiming an impounded dog or cat shall pay all impounding fees, boarding fees and licensing fees according to the fee schedule. If no proof of a current rabies vaccination can be produced, the Animal Control Officer(s) shall issue a citation for violation of this law. Impounding and boarding fees for all other animals shall be according to the fee schedule. Subsequent impounds occurring within 12 months shall be charged double the schedule fees.
   (H)   Any dog or cat not reclaimed by its owner within 120 hours for a licensed animal or 72 hours for an unlicensed animal shall become property of the City of Pleasanton and will be placed for adoption or humanely euthanized. Other impounded animals not reclaimed by an owner within 72 hours shall become property of the City of Pleasanton, and will be placed for adoption or humanely euthanized.
   (I)   In addition to, or in lieu of, impounding an animal found at large, the Animal Control Officer may issue to the known owner of the animal a citation for violation of this chapter. Any person who shall be convicted of owning an animal found at large, shall be assessed a fine not exceeding $500.
   (J)   The Animal Control Officer shall take up or cause to be taken up any such animals found running at large or causing a nuisance within the limits of the City of Pleasanton and shall impound any such animals in a suitable place provided for that purpose.
   (K)   An owner reclaiming an impounded cat or other small animal shall pay a fee of $20 plus $2 for each day the animal has been impounded.
   (L)   An owner reclaiming a horse, cow or other large animal shall pay a fee of $30 plus $5 for each day the animal has been impounded.
   (M)   The pick up for dogs within one calendar year is as follows:

Owner is required to pay the fine if they would like their dog back or not. (Fine not to exceed $500)
