For the purpose of this code, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CHARTER or CITY CHARTER. The city charter of the city, adopted in 1981, as it has been or may be subsequently amended or revised.
CITY. The City of Plainwell, Allegan County, Michigan.
CITY COUNCIL. The legislative body of the city.
CLERK or CITY CLERK. The duly appointed City Clerk of the city or any deputy.
CODE. This code of ordinances.
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT. Public Act 442 of 1976 as it has been and may from time to time be amended or superseded.
MAYOR. The Mayor of the city who is elected as provided in the city charter or the Mayor pro tem or other official duly acting in the Mayor’s stead as provided in the city charter.
OPEN MEETINGS ACT. Public Act 267 of 1976 as it has been and may from time to time be amended or superseded.
PERSON. Includes any person, firm, corporation, partnership, association, trust or other entity or group formed as a unit for carrying out any purpose.
PUBLIC PLACE. The entire width of any public right-of-way, any city or other public park and any other public or private property to which the public is commonly invited or permitted to use.
TREASURER or CITY TREASURER. The duly appointed City Treasurer of the city or any designee.
