§ 50.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ALLOCATION. Any quantity of water committed by the town pursuant to written contract or agreement or course of dealing. A residential ALLOCATION shall be not more than 500 gallons per day. All existing non-residential customer’s ALLOCATION shall be their monthly average consumption for (YEAR) plus 10%.
   BUILDING CONNECTION. The portion of a private water line which extends from the building being served to the town’s water meter.
   CROSS-CONNECTION. The portion of a water line that connects private and public water supplies.
   FIRE SERVICE CONNECTION. That portion of the water line beginning at a public line in a street right-of-way or public easement and terminating at and including the water meter.
   FIXTURE UNIT DEMAND. The established amount of water required for the proper operation of a fixture unit installed in the plumbing system of a building.
   PERSON. Any individual, firm, company, association, society, corporation, or group.
   PITTSBORO WATER SUPPLY. Any part or all of the facilities necessary to produce and distribute potable water from the supply source to the water user.
   PUBLICLY DEDICATED EASEMENT. A strip of land across private lands on which the owner has given written and signed permission for the town to install and maintain a public water line.
   PUBLIC WATER LINE. A water line installed, owned, and maintained by the town. All public water mains shall be installed on public street rights-of-way or publicly dedicated easements.
   SERVICE CONNECTION CHARGE. The fee paid to the town for the installation of a water line and meter to supply water from a public line, or the installation of a sewer connection to a public main.
   WATER SERVICE CONNECTION. That portion of the water line beginning at a public line in a street right-of-way or public easement and terminating at and including the water meter.
