§ 74.41 DEFINITIONS PERTAINING TO LOAD LIMITS.
   As used in this subchapter:
      AXLE. One or more load-carrying wheels mounted in a single transverse vertical plane.
      MAXIMUM AXLE LOAD. The gross weight of vehicle and load imposed by any axle upon the road surface.
      MAXIMUM WHEEL LOAD. The proportionate gross weight of vehicle and load imposed by any wheel upon the road surface.
      SPACING BETWEEN AXLES. The distance between any two successive such planes.
