(A) Public buildings. Except as provided in division (G) below, no weapon or firearm including a handgun carried under the authority of a lawful concealed handgun permit shall be permitted in any buildings and their appurtenant premises owned by the town.
(B) Town park. Except as provided in division (G) below, all persons are prohibited from possessing any firearm, unless carried concealed under the authority of a lawful concealed handgun permit, in any town park. However, this exception does not apply to those locations identified in division (C).
(C) Recreational facilities. Except as provided in division (G) below, all persons are prohibited from possessing any firearm, including a concealed handgun carried concealed under the authority of a lawful concealed handgun permit, at the following town recreational facilities (i.e., athletic facilities or athletic fields having organized scheduled events for use) in accordance with G.S. § 14-415.23:
(1) The Belle Johnston Community Center located at 1000 Johnston Drive;
(2) The Hut Meeting Facility located at 413 Johnston Drive;
(3) The Shay Stage and playground inside Lake Park located at 1000 Johnston Drive;
(4) The baseball/softball fields and multipurpose athletic field having organized athletic events scheduled for use and concession and seating areas at Jack D. Hughes Memorial Park located at 513 Main Street.
(D) Weapons other than firearms. Except as provided in division (G) below, all persons are prohibited from possessing weapons, other than firearms, as defined in G.S. § 14-269 in town owned buildings, their appurtenant premises, and in town parks and recreational facilities, as defined herein.
(E) Storage in vehicle. Nothing herein is intended to prohibit a person from storing a firearm within a motor vehicle while the vehicle is on the aforementioned properties in the town.
(F) Definition. For the purposes of this section, BUILDINGS is defined as set forth in G.S. § 14-54(c) as including any dwelling, dwelling house, uninhabited house, building under construction, building within the curtilage of a dwelling house, and any other structure designed to house or secure within it any activity or property.
(G) Exceptions. This prohibition shall not apply to the following persons:
(1) Officers and enlisted personnel of the armed forces of the United States when in discharge of their official duties as such and acting under orders requiring them to carry arms and weapons;
(2) Civil officers of the United States while in the discharge of their official duties;
(3) Officers and soldiers of the militia and the national guard when called into actual service;
(4) Sworn law enforcement officers;
(5) Persons firing firearms without projectiles in organized educational, entertainment, instructional, or ceremonial events sponsored by the Town of Pineville or the Pineville Parks and Recreation Department.
(H) Posted notice. A conspicuous notice shall be posted at each entrance to any property set forth in divisions (A), (B), or (C) above outlining the restrictions prescribed in this section.
(I) Contraband. Firearms and other weapons possessed in violation of this section are hereby declared to be contraband. The Chief of Police or his or her designee shall dispose of such weapons pursuant to applicable state law.

It shall be unlawful for any person to use the town lake for swimming or boating unless authorized by the Town Administrator or designee.

No person in a park shall:
(A) Fail to comply with all applicable provisions of the motor vehicle traffic laws of the state and ordinances of the town in regard to equipment and operation of vehicles;
(B) Fail to obey all police officers and park officers, such persons being hereby authorized and instructed to direct traffic whenever and wherever needed in the parks in accordance with the provisions of these regulations and supplementary regulations as may be issued subsequently by the Superintendent;
(C) Fail to observe carefully all traffic signs indicating speed, direction, caution, stopping or parking, and all others posted for proper control and to safeguard life and property;
(D) Ride or drive a vehicle at a rate of speed exceeding 15 miles an hour, except upon roads as the Superintendent may specifically designate by posted signs for speedier travel;
(E) Drive any vehicle on any area except the paved park roads or parking areas, or other areas as may on occasion be specifically designated as temporary parking areas by the Superintendent;
(F) Park a vehicle in other than an established or designated parking area, and the use shall be in accordance with the posted directions and with the instructions of any traffic officer or park officer who may be present;
(G) Fail to immediately notify an attendant or park officer of an emergency in the nature of a breakdown requiring the assistance of a tow truck, mechanic or other persons; or
(H) Operate any go-cart, minibike or other non-self-propelled vehicle at any location within the park other than those places, if any, as are specifically designated for that purpose, except that regularly licensed vehicles and operators may have access to streets and roadways within parks to the same extent as public streets subject to the traffic rules of this chapter.
