8.3.3.1   Purpose and Intent
   The legislature of the State of North Carolina has, in Chapter 143, Article 21, Watershed Protection Rules, and in 15A North Carolina Administrative Code 2B.0100 and 15A NCAC 2B.0200, delegated the responsibility or directed local government units to adopt regulations designed to promote the public health, safety and general welfare of its citizenry. The intent of the Watershed Protection Overlay District is to ensure the availability of public water supplies at a safe and acceptable level of water quality for present and future residents of the Village and the surrounding region. Watershed protection measures allowed by this Section of the Ordinance include:
   (A)   Impervious area limitations;
   (B)   Stream and reservoir buffers;
   (C)   Restriction of land uses and density allowed within water supply basins by the use of zoning.
