"Floodway fringe area" is a term used by FEMA to designate the floodplain area lying outside the floodway, but within the regulatory floodplain. For the purposes of this title, the floodway fringe area is also the regulatory floodplain wherever a floodway has not been defined for a regulatory watercourse.
