Pickerington Local School District
General Rules and Regulations for Community Use of the District Field House
A.   Community Usage Schedule - During the School Year (September to May)
   Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday      7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
   Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday   5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
   Friday                        CLOSED
   Saturday                      4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
   Sunday                        12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    Community usage may be limited at any time when the field house is needed for school purposes, special activities, any emergency situation, or as determined by the Board of Education and/or district administration.
    The field house will be closed on all holidays. The field house may be closed for inclement weather. Summer hours (June to August) are:
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday   5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
   Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday      8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
   Friday                        CLOSED
   Saturday                     CLOSED
   Sunday                        4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    Senior citizens are welcome to come in to the field house during school hours to walk around the track.
B.   Available Facilities 
    1.   Track - For jogging or walking. Please use the outside lane for jogging with the middle two lanes for walking. Please do not walk more than two abreast.
   2.   Courts - For basketball and volleyball. Check with the field house office regarding which courts.
   3.   Weight Room - See separate weight room rules and regulations.
   4.   Locker Rooms - Both men's and women's locker rooms are available for public usage. The Pickerington Local School District is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items.
      Individuals using the lockers must supply their own locks. Locks brought in may not be left on lockers overnight. Persons leaving locks on overnight will have their locks cut off and items removed. The Pickerington Local School District reserves the right to inspect any lockers at any time.
         Usage of facilities is at the user's risk. The Pickerington Local School District assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries.
C.   User Requirements 
Individuals using the field house must either be residents of the Pickerington Local School District, students of the Pickerington Local School District in grades 7-12, Pickerington Local School District employees, (and City of Pickerington employees), their spouses and children in grades 7-12. Student use during community hours Monday through Thursday is to end at 9:00 p.m.
Proof of residency will be requested at the field house office of all individuals prior to usage of the facilities. (Proof of residency will also be required at the time of application for a field house membership.)
All individuals using the facility are to sign in and out each time they use the field house.
Eligible users may bring in one guest only per visit. If the guest is a student, he or she must be in grades 7-l2.
If younger children are brought in they are the responsibility of their parents. Personnel and facilities to supervise younger children are not available. If younger children are brought in, they must be supervised at all times by a parent or other responsible adult. The school district will not provide any supervision in this case.
D.   General Rules 
   1.   The field house office will not hold valuables in the office, and is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
   2.   No water, food, chewing gum, beverages, or boom boxes are allowed in the field house.
   3.   Tobacco products, drugs and alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the field house. Pickerington High School is a smoke-free environment.
   4.   Field house users are required to change from the shoes they wear to the field house to proper athletic shoes prior to using any field house facilities. Proper athletic shoes should be carried in, not worn in. (As a reminder, locker space is available to store clothes and shoes.)
      Users are also required to check their athletic shoes for dirt and stones prior to using the field house.
      No totally black soled athletic shoes are allowed, except official's shoes during a school sponsored athletic event. Black topped athletic shoes with white or other colored soles are allowed.
         Outside shoes are not allowed on the track or any court. Visitors dropping off or picking someone up may come in with outside shoes, provided they stay on the carpet runners.
   5.   Proper attire is expected at all times. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
   6.   Joggers and walkers on the track have the right-of-way.
   7.   Users of any facility in the field house will adhere to all posted signs.
   8.   If additional attire or equipment is brought into the center, it is not allowed to lay on the courts or track. Excess items should be placed along the outer east wall of the field house or in lockers.
   9.   Dunking basketballs and hanging on the rims or nets is not permitted. Half court shots are not permitted.
   10.   No outdoor sports may be played in the center unless previously approved by the high school principal, athletic director and field house managers.
   11.   No game playing or bouncing of balls in locker rooms, hallways or weight room. Also, no bouncing of balls against walls or on the track.
   12.   Individuals using the field house may be assessed for any damages incurred as a result of their usage.
   13.   All users are asked to respect the rights of others.
   14.   Violations of rules included here or posted in the field house, malicious behavior towards the field house or its equipment, verbal abuse towards the field house manager, assistants, or other users, or violation of school district policies will result in the loss of privileges to usage of the field house.
      Field house managers or assistants may remove or ban eligible users from the field house for violation of field house rules. Violators of the field house rules may be banned from use of the field house for a continuous period of time depending upon the severity of the violations.
      Field house managers or assistants will report all violations of rules to the high school principal and the district office administration.
   15.   Outside groups are prohibited from monopolizing the field house during community hours. Any special events, activities, or recreational opportunities must first be scheduled and approved by the high school administration with district office approval.
E.   Membership Fees 
   A membership fee schedule will be implemented by the Pickerington Local School District to offset the costs incurred from community usage of the district field house.
   Effective January 1, 1995, eligible adult community users (adult users are defined as any district resident 18 years or older not attending public or private school) must purchase a yearly membership in order to use the district field house facilities. Individual adult memberships will be $40.00 per year from January through December. Memberships purchased after March will be prorated on a quarterly basis as follows:
               April - December   $35.00
               July - December   $30.00
               October - December   $25.00
   Membership renewals will start with January each year.
   Enrolled college students, ages 18 - 25, will be charged $25.00 for a yearly membership. College students purchasing memberships after March will be charged as follows:
               April - December    $21.00
               July - December   $17.00
               October - December   $13.00
   Pickerington Local School District students in grades 7 - 12 will be charged a yearly fee of $5.00 to offset costs of providing a membership card.
   Pickerington Local School District employees and City of Pickerington employees will not be charged any membership fees.
   Spouses of School District and City employees will be charged the $40.00 membership fee.
   All guests will be charged $5.00 per visit to the field house.
   Golden Buckeye Card holders will be issued memberships at no cost.
   A membership card will be given to all eligible community users upon paying their membership fees.
THIS CARD MUST BE PRESENTED TO A FIELD HOUSE EMPLOYEE BEFORE ENTERING THE FACILITY. ANYONE WHO FAILS TO DO SO WILL BE DENIED ENTRANCE.
   Replacement I.D. cards will be $5.00 each.
F.   Special Programs 
   (Non-school district residents or residents without a membership may participate in any special program/class that may be established under a cooperative agreement with the City of Pickerington. Non-school district residents will only have access to the specific program or class and will not be able to utilize field house facilities in the same manner as district residents who have purchased memberships. The only fee from special programs that will go back to the school district will be a $5.00 fee for I.D. cards for non-district residents participating in such programs.)
G.   Joint Field House Recreation Board 
   The Joint Field House Board will identify those community recreation programs offering the greatest benefit to the community members desiring to use the field house and approve and oversee the operation of programs.
   The board consists of five members, two of whom will be the City's Chairperson of Parks and Recreation Board or designee and the City Council Representative to the Parks and Recreation Board and three of whom shall be appointed by the Board of Education. Recreation Board members shall serve for terms of not more than two years. Vacancies on the Joint Field House Board will be filled by the party appointing the vacating member. The Joint Field House Board will select a chairperson from its membership and may establish rules for the conduct of its meetings.
Additional rules, regulations and fees may be implemented by the Pickerington Local School District, as the process of reviewing field house operations is an ongoing process. A copy of these rules and regulations is to be given to all eligible users on their first visit to the field house.
