The municipality also provides services related to the maintenance, development and improvement of property within the corporate limits, as well as property within the jurisdictional limits of the Plan Commission, as defined under Indiana statute. These services relate directly to the management and maintenance of existing development (such as health and code inspections), as well as the review, approval and management of new development (to protect public health, safety and welfare, and protect local property values). Planning and zoning services are primarily funded through property taxes, various forms of service and permit fees, and other local revenues as part of the general fund.
