§ 70.30 OPERATING TRAINS ACROSS GRANT STREET AND UNION STREET.
Every firm, person, and corporation that owns and operates trains over and across Grant Street and Union Street within the city is required to construct, operate, and maintain automatic flasher light signals and automatically operated crossing arms or gates in conformity with the standards and specifications for construction, placement, and operation adopted by the State Public Service Commission or Indiana Department of Transportation for use on state highway railroad crossings, where their respective railroad tracks and trains run over and across Grant Street and Union Street. Whenever more than one firm, person, or corporation owns and operates a railroad and trains over and across either Grant Street or Union Street, whereby the respective railroad tracks of each form a common crossing of the public streets, automatic flasher light signals and automatic crossing arms or gates shall be constructed, operated, and maintained jointly or in conjunction by and between such respective firms, persons, and corporations. However, the failure to act jointly or in conjunction with each other shall not relieve each respective firm, person, or corporation from compliance with the terms of this section.
