The area to be protected as a district is that portion of the village well fields’ recharge areas extending to the groundwater divide contained within the village boundary limits and shown on the map set forth in § 51.05 of this chapter. (As identified with the blue lines outlining the wellhead protection area; except the light orange colored areas lay outside the village limits. The wellhead protection areas are identified as Zones 1 and 2 and are further defined by street areas and may be found in §§ 51.40 and 51.41 of this chapter.) The village area lands are subject to land use and development restrictions because of their close-proximity to the well fields and the corresponding high threat of contamination.
