§ 32.02 POLICE CHIEF; APPOINTMENT; EX OFFICIO VILLAGE MARSHAL; DUTIES.
   (A)   There is hereby created the office of Police Chief who shall be ex officio Village Marshal. The Chief shall be appointed by the Village President and Board of Trustees and shall be considered an employee of the village and not an officer thereof.

   (B)   The Chief of Police shall be keeper of the village jail, and shall have custody of all persons incarcerated therein. He shall keep such records and make such reports concerning the activities of his Department as may be required by statute or ordinance. The Chief shall be responsible for the performance of the Police Department, of all its functions, and all persons who are members of the Department shall serve subject to the orders of the Chief of Police.
