GENERAL PROVISIONS

§ 31.001 ELECTION OF VILLAGE OFFICIALS.

   Elections for village offices shall be held as is provided by statute and at the time prescribed by statute.

§ 31.002 TERMS OF ELECTED OFFICERS.

   The terms of elected municipal officers shall commence at the first regular meeting of the corporate authorities during the month of May following the proclamation of the results of the regular municipal election at which such officers were elected, except as may otherwise be provided by ordinance fixing the date for inauguration of such newly elected officers.

§ 31.003 LIABILITY.

   No provision of this code designating the duties of any officer or employee shall be so construed as to make such officer or employee liable for any fine or penalty provided in this code for a failure to perform such duty, unless the intention of the Village Board of Trustees to impose such a fine or penalty on such officer or employee is specifically and clearly expressed in the section creating the duties.

APPOINTED OFFICIALS

§ 31.015 APPLICATION OF PROVISIONS.

   The provisions of this subchapter shall apply alike to all officers and employees of the village, regardless of the time of the creation of the office or position or of the time of appointment of the officer or employee.
