§ 70.38 AUTHORIZED PUBLIC HIGHWAYS.
A neighborhood vehicle may be operated only on streets within the village where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less. This section does not prohibit a neighborhood vehicle from crossing a road or street at an intersection (direct, non-intersection crossings being prohibited) where the road or street has a posted speed limit of more than 35 miles per hour. If a roadway within the village is under the jurisdiction of more than one unit of government, NV's may not be operated on the roadway unless each unit of government agrees and approves of same as provided for in ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, §§ 11-1426.1 et seq. No person operating a neighborhood vehicle shall make a direct crossing upon or across any highway under the jurisdiction of the state, tollroad, interstate highway, or controlled access highway in this state. Subject to the limitations above, the use of neighborhood electric vehicles on any other public highway within the village is authorized as provided herein. Any operator of a NV shall comply with all provisions of the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code and the Village Code of Peotone relating to its operation, parking and use.
