§ 50.077 ABANDONMENT OF PRIVATE SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEMS.
   (A)   At such time as a public sewer becomes available and/or if in the opinion of the town that service can be supplied at a reasonable cost to the town, such private sewage disposal systems shall be abandoned and direct sewer service connection be made to the treatment works of the town.
   (B)   The town shall notify the owner of the private sewage disposal system in writing that such system is to be abandoned and connection made to the town's treatment works.
   (C)   Connection to the town's treatment works shall be made within 60 days of written notification by the town, unless otherwise authorized by the town in writing.
   (D)   Abandonment of private sewage disposal systems shall be in full compliance of all guidelines, regulations, etc. of S.C. DHEC. The town shall be provided a letter of approval from S.C. DHEC of the abandonment activities.
   (E)   All private sewage disposal systems shall be cleaned of sludge and filled with clean gravel or dirt within the time noted above in division (C).
   (F)   The town shall not be responsible for any costs incurred by the owner of a private sewage disposal system in the abandonment of such disposal system.
