For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CANVASSER or SOLICITOR. Any individual, whether resident of the city or not, traveling either by foot, wagon, automobile, motor truck, or any other type of conveyance from place to place, from house to house, or from street to street, taking or attempting to take orders for the sale of goods, wares, merchandise, and personal property of any nature whatsoever for future delivery, or for services to be furnished or performed in the future, whether or not the individual has, carries, or exposes for sale a sample of the subject of the sale, or whether he is collecting advance payments on the sales or not. CANVASSER or SOLICITOR shall include any person, who, for himself or for another person, firm, or corporation, hires, leases, uses, or occupies any building, structure, tent, railroad boxcar, boat, hotel room, lodging house, apartment, shop, or any other place within the city for the sole purpose of exhibiting and taking orders for future delivery. CANVASSER or SOLICITOR shall not include representatives of established and recognized newspapers making regular house to house deliveries. For purposes of this section, NEWSPAPERS shall include newspapers, community newspapers, shoppers newsletters and magazines.

CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION. A group which is or holds itself out to be benevolent, educational, voluntary health, philanthropic, humane, patriotic, religious, or eleemosynary organization, or any person who solicits or obtains contributions solicited from the public for charitable purposes. CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION shall not be deemed
to include a duly constituted religious organization or any group affiliated with and forming an integral part of that organization.
