It shall be unlawful to discharge any cannon, pistol or other firearm of any kind whatsoever within the municipality. This section shall not, however, prohibit the firing of a military salute or the firing of weapons by persons of the national armed forces acting under military authority, and shall not apply to law enforcement officials in the proper enforcement of the law and shall not apply to any person in the proper exercise of the right of self-defense, and shall not prohibit hunting during lawful hunting seasons in the Paulding Reservoir Park Area between the dam and to the east boundary of the park area therefrom and, in addition thereto, on the east one-half of the said Paulding Reservoir itself.
