7-5-16: ILLEGAL CONNECTIONS:
   A.   It shall be unlawful for any person to make or cause to be made any connection with the city water main or to introduce or cause to be introduced water from the city water main into any connection made therewith unless a permit has been first duly issued for such purpose by the building inspector in compliance and conformity with the provisions of this chapter and the rules and regulations of the city that are now or may hereafter be established therefor; or to cause a connection to become in noncompliance with the provisions of this chapter and the rules and regulations of the city that are now or may hereafter be established; or to interfere with or injure any hydrant, pipe connection, lock, meter or any property of the city water system.
   B.   Any person violating the provisions of this section shall, upon notice by the public works supervisor or other appropriate designee of the city, immediately take necessary steps to stop such illegal connection or interference. Where such illegal connection or interference with the water system poses a threat to the public health, safety or welfare, the public works supervisor shall have the authority to discontinue water service without further notice.
   C.   Should the owner or occupant of the premises turn on the water, or suffer or cause it to be turned on, after it has been shut off by the city, it will be turned off at the main and a fee set by resolution approved by the city council must be paid before the same shall be turned on again.
   D.   A violation of this section shall be a misdemeanor, and each day shall be deemed to constitute a separate offense. (Ord. 574, 3-9-2015)
