Upon notification by representatives of the police department that goods and articles received on deposit or consignment in pawn, pledge, trade or exchange, or by purchases are the fruits of a crime, no pawnbroker shall dispose of such property. Interest upon such goods and articles pawned or pledged shall cease to accrue on the date of such notification. (1988 Code § 8-4-3)
