(A) All residences within the city limits of the city shall post their city assigned house number visible from the street no later than July 31, 1989 and shall maintain the visible number so as to be seen from a distance of no less than 100 feet from the street.
(B) Any person living at a residence for a period of 10 days or longer shall be a responsible party who can receive citation or complaint. However, should the residence be vacant, the owner as recorded by the County Clerk’s Office shall be the responsible party any time after the tenth day of vacancy.
(C) For the purpose of this section, the following definition shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
RESIDENCE. Any structure that is designed or is used as sleeping facilities overnight.
(D) The house number may be posted in a way so that any reasonable person could identify that property as being the one that the number is assigned. It can be posted on a fence, a placard, post, or other means of the resident’s choosing. It may also be placed on the mail box or post and meet the provisions of this section only if that mail box clearly identifies that residence and only that residence.
(E) This section is not a substitute or exemption from the requirements of posting designated numbers by the U.S. postal service.
