The application for a permit for the erection of a sign or other advertising structure in which electrical wiring and connections are to be used shall be submitted to the electrical inspector. The electrical inspector shall examine the plans and specifications respecting all wiring and connections to determine if the same, comply with the electrical code of the city, and he shall approve the permit if the plans and specifications comply with the code, or disapprove the application if noncompliance with the code is found. This action of the electrical inspector shall be taken prior to submission of the application to the building commissioner for final approval or disapproval of the erection permit.
