In checking for overtime parking, any police officer or traffic-control officer is authorized to use chalk marks on the tires or parked vehicles or any other identifying mark that does not deface the vehicle, and it shall be unlawful for any person to erase or obliterate such mark for the purpose of interfering with such checking for overtime parking.
