(A) All water mains or service connections shall be installed as set forth by the owner and approved by the utility as originally submitted in the application for service. Where an existing water main abuts the property to which service is requested, a meter will be set at this point by the utility. The owner will be responsible for installing service line from the meter to the point of usage as set forth in specifications as approved.
(B) If a water main does not abut the property to which service is requested, the owner shall be responsible for installing additional water main as set forth in specifications as submitted by the owner and approved by the utility in the original application for service. After additional main has been installed to the property line, the utility shall set water meter at this point. The owner shall then install service connection as set forth in specifications as submitted by the owner and approved by the utility in the original application for service.
(C) All water mains installed by the owner shall become the property of the utility after inspection and acceptance in writing by the utility. The utility shall have the right to allow other applicants for water service to connect to the lines. The utility, having accepted the aforementioned line as part of its total system, will not allow the owner originally installing the line to charge any fee to an applicant for water service for connection to the line. Only those fees imposed by the utility will apply. The utility shall maintain water lines to the water meter.
(D) Water mains shall be designed to carry peak flows and maintain a minimum line pressure of 30 pounds per square inch at all points. In no case shall a water main be smaller than six inches in diameter. Service lines shall be one inch minimum diameter. A one-inch line from a water main to the water meter will be allowed only if the owner is given prior approval by the utility. No connections will be allowed to this one-inch line.
(E) All water pipe shall be covered with a minimum of 30 inches backfill and ground restored to its original status.
(F) All water mains shall be constructed of ductile iron or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) unless otherwise approved by the utility, except any line ten inches or larger shall be ductile iron.
(G) Any installation of a water main which results in a dead-end line shall be required to have a blowoff valve installed for flushing purposes.
