The discharge of firearms and other weapons as prohibited in § 133.01 of this chapter shall not apply to the persons set forth in divisions (A), (B) and (C) below:
(A) Persons duly authorized to act as law enforcement officers or members of the military forces of the United States or the state in the discharge of their duties;
(B) Persons engaged in archery, target or trap shooting on archery, target or trap shooting ranges approved as such by the Council; and
(C) Persons acting in self-defense when the use of firearms for that purpose would not be unlawful under the laws of the state.
