1311.07 EMERGENCY VACATING OF BUILDING; CLOSING STREETS.
When the Director of Public Safety and Service is of the opinion that a building or structure is in such an unsafe condition that life is endangered thereby, he may order and require the inmates and occupants to vacate such building or structure forthwith. He shall cause to be posted at each entrance to such building a notice to read as follows: "This building is unsafe and its use or occupancy has been prohibited by the Safety-Service Director." Such notice shall remain posted until the required repairs are made or until the building or structure is razed. No person, other than an employee of the City properly authorized to do so, shall remove or cause to be removed such notice without written permission from the Director. No person, other than those authorized by law, shall enter a building or structure which has been posted as unsafe for use or occupancy by the Director, except for the purpose of making the required repairs or demolishing such building or structure. The Director may, when necessary for public safety, temporarily close sidewalks, streets, buildings, structures and places adjacent to such buildings or structures and prohibit the same from being used. Notice of any temporary closing of streets, roads or buildings shall be sent to all persons involved and to all proper public officials by the Director, except that sending such notice may be waived in the case of an emergency.
