It shall be unlawful to maintain anywhere in the town any sign, signal, marking or device, other than a traffic sign or signal authorized and erected by the town, which purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles an official traffic-control device in view of any street or highway; and it shall be unlawful to place or maintain any sign or other article which hides from view any lawful traffic-control device.
