All full-time classified employees will be granted time off, with pay, in the event of a death in the immediate family. The immediate family includes a spouse, child, parent, including a parent-in-law, brother and sister, including a brother or sister-in-law, grandparent and grandchild. Three days, if necessary, will be granted with pay if the funeral is held locally. As used in this section, "days" means consecutive twenty-four hour days. If the funeral period includes non-work days, for example, a non-work Saturday or Sunday, the employee will not be granted three work days outside the actual days needed for the funeral period. One extra day, or a total of four days with pay, will be allowed should the employee need travel time to and from the place of the funeral, which day must be granted at the discretion of the employee's superior.
For attendance at funerals of relatives other than those listed in this section, one day will be granted with pay.
