SECTION 5.02. OFFICERS OF COUNCIL.
   (a)   President of Council. At the organizational meeting of Council, Council shall elect one (1) of the Councilmen-at-Large to the office of President of Council. The President of Council shall serve until the first (1st) day of January after the next regular municipal election or until his successor is elected and qualified, and his duties shall be to preside at all regular and special meetings of Council, to appoint various Council committees and committee chairmen who will preside at Council committee meetings, to perform such duties as are assigned to him by Council and this Charter, and to co-ordinate the work of the various committees appointed by him. The President of Council shall succeed to the office of Mayor in the case of a vacancy, temporary or permanent, in that office. The Councilman serving as President of Council may be removed from that office at any time at a regular meeting of Council upon the concurrence of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the members elected thereto. Any vacancy in the office of President of Council shall be filled in the manner provided in Section 6.05 of this Charter.
   (b)   President Pro Tempore. At the organizational meeting of Council, Council shall elect one (1) of the Councilman-at-Large to the office of President pro tempore. The President pro tempore shall serve until the first (1st) day of January after the next regular municipal election or until his successor is elected and qualified. The President pro tempore shall succeed to the office of President of Council in the case of a vacancy, temporary or permanent, in that office and shall perform such other duties as are assigned to him by Council or this Charter. The Councilman serving as President pro tempore may be removed from that office at any time at a regular meeting of Council upon the concurrence of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the members elected thereto. Any vacancy in the office of President pro tempore shall be filled in the manner provided in Section 6.05 of this Charter.
   (c)   Clerk of Council. As soon as possible after the commencement of the term, Council shall appoint a Clerk of Council. The Clerk of Council shall serve until the first (1st) day of January after the next regular municipal election or until his successor is appointed and qualified, and his duties shall be to give notice of Council meeting to its members and the public, to keep the journal of the proceedings of Council, and to perform such other duties as are assigned to him by this Charter or by Council. The Clerk of Council may be removed from office at any time at a regular meeting of Council upon the concurrence of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the members elected thereto. Any vacancy in the office of Clerk of Council shall be filled by Council. (Amended 11-5-02; 11-6-18.)
