1-6-3: FILING OF PROTESTS:
   A.   If a protest to the annexation is filed within thirty (30) days, as required under Utah Code Annotated section 10-2-407, as amended, the city council may, at its next regular meeting after expiration of the deadline for the filing of protests, deny the annexation petition, or, if not denied, take no further action on the annexation petition until receipt of notice of the decision of the Weber County boundary commission.
   B.   If no timely protest is filed, the city council may grant the petition, and by ordinance, annex the area that is the subject of the annexation petition after:
      1.   Holding a public hearing; and
      2.   At least seven (7) days before the public hearing, publishing notice of the hearing in a newspaper of general circulation within the city and the area proposed for annexation.
